If you have an interest in helping and assisting both children and adults with disabilities and want to Put People First, NEDSRA is looking for you! Opportunities for involvement include meaningful and challenging part-time positions, volunteering and student internships.

part-time staffQualified Part-time Staff and Volunteers
NEDSRA hires qualified part-time staff and volunteers to assist with many programs. If you are 13 years of age or older, and are interested in being a member or our support staff please call Ann Roytek, Recreation Manager of Support Staff Services, at 1-630- 620-4500, ext. 133. As a part-time staff or volunteer you will need to complete an application and meet with our Recreation Manager of Support Staff Services to discuss the variety of programs that match with your interest, experience and availability.

volunteers help make a differenceWhether it is assisting with our weekly programs, going on an overnight camping trip, coaching Special Olympics Sports or assisting with an integration in one of our member park districts, your time, experience and commitment are valuable to NEDSRA.

Sixteen-week internships are available to students majoring in Therapeutic Recreation or a closely related field. General areas covered during the placement include:

  • Administration
  • Supervision
  • Fiscal management
  • Public relations
  • Outdoor recreation
  • Program leadership

All interns will be directly supervised by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) and will receive an $80.00 per week stipend.
